Two Days Regional Forum For South, West Asian NOCs: 1st and 2nd April, 2017

A two days Olympic Solidarity (OS)/Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Regional Forum for South, West Asian National Olympic Committees (NOCs) was held at Muscat, Oman on the 1st and 2nd of April, 2017.

Sheikh Khalid Al Zubair, Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee, graced the OS/OCA Regional Forum. He welcomed the  delegations from 20 NOCs  and said the region would benefit greatly from this forum.

Representatives from the following NOCs attended the forum: (i) Afghanistan, (ii) Bhutan, (iii) Bangladesh, (iv) Bahrain, (v) Jordan, (vi) Iraq, (vii) Iran, (viii) India, (ix) Nepal, (x) Maldives, (xi) Lebanon, (xii) Yemen, (xiii) Qatar, (xiv) Palestine, (xv) Oman, (xvi) Pakistan, (xvii) United Arab Emirates, (xviii) Syria, (xix) Sri Lanka, and (xx) Saudi Arabia.

Representatives from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Japan; Children of Asia International Sports Games, Sakha Republic, Russian Federation; Indonesia Asian Games 2018; and Olympic Council of Asia were also present during the forum.

Mr. Wei Jizhong, Honorary Life Vice President of OCA;  Husain Al Musallam, Director General and Technical Director of OCA; Mr. Olivier Niamkey, Olympic Solidarity’s Head of the Athletes’ Unit;  and Mr. Taha Al Kishri, Secretary General of Oman Olympic Committee  also attended today’s forum.

The forum was conducted by a team from Olympic Solidarity. The team made a presentation on the Olympic Solidarity plan for the XXXII Olympiad 2017 – 2020 and updated all the representatives on the support available  under the new Olympiad cycle.
