INDIA HOUSE GOLF TOURNAMENT

The India House Junior Golf Tournament tees off today at the India House Eco Park, India House Estate, bringing together 41 young golfers from Bhutan.

The tournament commemorates the Coronation of His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

For the young participants, the tournament offered more than an opportunity to compete for a good score. It allowed them to refine their swings, improve their course management, build confidence under pressure, and learn from every round played.

Ugyen Dema, a student of Dechencholing Higher Secondary School, shared that she has been playing golf for almost five years and participated in the tournament to put her skills to the test. Describing the experience as great, she highlighted the opportunity to compete, learn, and continue improving her game.

Ashis Rai, who has been playing golf for six years, also emphasised the value of participating in tournaments. He shared that every competition brings new lessons and experiences that help him develop as a golfer. He expressed his gratitude to the Embassy of India for providing young golfers with such opportunities to compete, learn and sharpen their skills.

The tournament is part of the broader India House Golf Tournament, which brings together golfers across different categories. The Women’s Category will tee off on 7 November, bringing women golfers together for a day of competition and camaraderie. The Men’s Category will run from 9 to 15 November.

The tournament is supported by title sponsors TATA Power and Carbon Resources Pvt. Ltd. from India. Other major sponsors include NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), PTC India and Mahindra & Mahindra. The Bhutan Olympic Committee is the Official Media Partner, supporting media coverage and promotion of the tournament.
