5th Tour of the Dragon

Tour of the dragon (6th September, 2014) Tour of the dragon is held every year on first Saturday of September month so apparently this year it’s on 6th September 2014, which the climate is perfect for the bike race and it covers four high mountains (Yotongla, Kiki la, Pele La and Dochula) before concluding in Thimphu. It is organized by Bhutan Olympic committee and it’s a one day mountain bike race which is more challenging in the world. It is a brainchild of His Royal Highness, Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, who led the first race in 2010. Total registered participants are 46 out of which six are female, 24 of them have completed the race, and there are 25 foreigners, which shows that it is the highest number compare to previous years. They will start from central (Bumthang) to western (Thimphu) Bhutan where it covers the elevations ranging from 1200 – 3340 meters with 268 kilometers approximately 166 – miles and there is no time limit.
