Kinley’s Asian Games Campaign Ends After Fighting Display Against Jordan’s Abu Jajeh

Kinley’s Asian Games journey came to an end on Wednesday afternoon at Nishio Gymnasium, but not before the Bhutanese boxer stepped into the ring and gave everything he had against Jordan’s Mohammad Abu Jajeh in the Men’s 60kg Preliminary Round at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
The bout, held at 1:15 PM Japan time as Bout 28, brought Kinley face-to-face with Abu Jajeh in a contest where both boxers looked to establish their rhythm from the opening round. Kinley stayed composed and continued looking for his opportunities as the fight developed, while Abu Jajeh worked to control the exchanges and build an advantage.
The official scoring reflected a clear advantage for the Jordanian boxer. All five judges recorded the same round scores, awarding Abu Jajeh 10 points in each of the three rounds, giving him a total of 30 points from each judge and a unanimous 5:0 decision.
Kinley, meanwhile, finished each round with 9 points from all five judges, giving him a total of 27 points on each scorecard. The scoring showed the consistency of the bout across all three rounds, with the judges maintaining the same assessment from the opening round through to the final round.
There was also one warning recorded against Kinley during the second round. The official bout record additionally records a knockdown in the third round, which contributed to the final scoring in Abu Jajeh’s favour.
Despite the result, Kinley remained committed to the fight and continued working until the final stages of the contest. He faced a physically demanding opponent and a difficult challenge at the Asian Games level, but stayed in the contest and gained valuable experience from competing on one of the biggest stages of his career.
Before stepping into the ring, Kinley had spoken about his mindset for the day, saying, “I am here to give it my all and bring out the best in me.” Those words reflected the approach he brought into the competition as he took on Abu Jajeh.
The bout also marked another important moment for Team Bhutan’s boxing campaign in Aichi-Nagoya. After Migma Dorji opened Bhutan’s boxing campaign in the Men’s 55kg division, Kinley became the second Bhutanese boxer to compete at these Games.
The result means Kinley will not progress to the next round, but his Asian Games campaign leaves him with another important international experience to carry forward. Every round, every exchange and every challenge inside the ring adds to the journey of a boxer, and Kinley now has another major competition behind him as he continues that journey.
Kinley came to Japan with one promise: to give it his all and bring out the best in himself. On Wednesday at Nishio Gymnasium, he stepped through the ropes, faced his opponent and fought his way through three rounds on the Asian Games stage.
