Team Bhutan to Compete at Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group V in Vietnam
Four Bhutanese tennis players will represent the country at the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group V, scheduled to take place in Vietnam from 9 to 15 November 2026.
The Bhutanese team comprises Sherab Gyeltshen, Jamyang Choeda, Jigme Norbu and Thinley Dorji, who will compete against teams from across the Asia-Oceania region. The team will be guided by Coach Tashi Dorji.
The four players bring considerable experience in tennis, having spent several years developing their skills and competing at different levels. Jigme Norbu has played tennis for 11 years, while Sherab Gyeltshen and Thinley Dorji have each been involved in the sport for 10 years. Jamyang Choeda completes the team with seven years of tennis experience.
The team has undergone approximately three months of intensive preparation under the guidance of Coach Tashi Dorji, with training focused on improving physical fitness, strength, match readiness and mental conditioning. The players have followed a structured training programme, including twice-daily sessions, to strengthen their overall performance ahead of the competition.
The Davis Cup is the premier international team competition in men’s tennis, providing participating nations with an important platform to compete internationally, gain valuable exposure, and measure their standards against other countries. The Asia/Oceania Group V competition will bring together 14 nations, with the top two teams earning promotion to Group IV for the 2027 season.
“I am confident in my players and the preparation we have put in over the past few months. The team has worked hard, remained committed throughout the training period, and is ready to take on the challenge. Our goal is to give our very best, compete with determination and make the most of this opportunity to represent Bhutan. I wish all four players the very best for the tournament.”
— Tashi Dorji, Coach, Team Bhutan
The tournament presents another valuable opportunity for Bhutanese tennis to gain international exposure, build competitive experience and further strengthen the country’s presence in regional tennis.
The Bhutan Olympic Committee wishes Team Bhutan the very best as they prepare to represent the country in Vietnam.
