HRH PRINCE JIGYEL UGYEN WANGCHUCK GRANTED AN AUDIENCE

His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, the President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, granted an audience to the Presidents, General Secretaries, medal winning athletes and coaches of the National sports federations and sports associations, who won medals at the 13th South Asian Games held from the 1st to the 10th of December, in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal. His Royal Highness congratulated the athletes and stated that while this was one of the highest medal tallies ever won at the South Asian Games, he was even more proud of the way they had conducted themselves, and represented Bhutan, the Bhutan Olympic Committee, their federations and themselves. His Royal Highness commanded that they learn from this invaluable experience and continue to work and train hard to win further glory for the country and themselves. The Bhutan Olympic Committee, the National sports federations and sports associations were also commanded to review their current plans and programs, and adopt a more strategic, result based approach, to elite athlete development. Bhutan won 20 medals, 7 silver and 13 bronze medals at the recently concluded 13th South Asian Games, 2019.
