Kinley Lhendup and Sangay Tenzin Make Waves on the Global Stage

Bhutanese swimmers Kinley Lhendup and Sangay Tenzin represented Bhutan at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships held in Budapest, Hungary, from June 18 to July 3.

Kinley Lhendup competed in the Men’s 100m Butterfly and Men’s 200m Individual Medley events. He recorded times of 1:04.07 and 2:29.72, respectively, setting new personal bests and national records in both events.

Sangay Tenzin participated in the Men’s 100m Freestyle and Men’s 200m Freestyle events. He achieved times of 57.69 and 2:08.36, respectively, also marking personal bests and national records.

Both athletes have been instrumental in elevating the profile of swimming in Bhutan. Their participation in international competitions, including the World Aquatics Championships, reflects the growing interest and investment in aquatic sports within the country.

Their achievements have garnered attention and praise, inspiring a new generation of swimmers in Bhutan. The Bhutan Aquatics Federation continues to support and develop talent, aiming for greater success in future international events.
