The members of the National Task Force who will be responsible for the development of Sports in the country met for the first time at the Bhutan Olympic Committee office on the 4th of April. For the development of Sports in a coherent and efficient manner, it was found essential to strengthen the coordination mechanism amongst the organizations involved in its development and promotion.

The Royal Government of Bhutan thus decided to formulate a National Sports Policy in order to provide a road-map and clear guidance for developing sports in a balanced, sustainable, equitable and institutionalized manner as one of the major targets in the Tenth Five-Year Plan under the Sports sector.

Therefor keeping in mind the decisions, the Royal Govt established a National Task Force comprised of members from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Miitsry of Labor and Human Resource, the Royal University of Bhutan and the Bhutan Olympic Committee to develop Sports in the country.

The Task Force is chaired by HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, Gyaltshab and the President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee.
