“Creating Awareness on the Importance of Sports Medicine and Sports Science as an Integral Part of Sports Development in the Country” Paro, Bhutan, December 12, 2015: The Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) with the support from the Olympic Solidarity (OS) conducted a Sports Medicine Awareness Program titled “Creating Awareness on the Importance of Sports Medicine and Sports Science as an Integral Part of Sports Development in the Country” on the 12th and 13th of December, 2015.

The Royal Government of Bhutan has received a Grant from the Government of India (GoI) and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Grant to payments under the contract for Hiring Architectural and Engineering Services for the Design of Sports infrastructures at Thimphu.

The Bhutan Olympic Committee has received a grant from Government of India for the development of Sports infrastructures across the country and intends to apply this proceed of this grant to the payments under the contract as mentioned below. BOC now invites sealed Bids from eligible and qualified bidders for Construction of Multi-Sport Hall as mentioned below

HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, Representative of His Majesty the King, President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee and the Director of Board of the Tarayana Foundation today met with Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Chairman of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, Kuwait at the Changlingmethang National Stadium on the 13th April. 

Recognizing the importance of encouraging and cultivating sporting achievement and sportsmanship, the Royal Thimphu College (RTC) and Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) do hereby agree to jointly provide six sports scholarships (2 for basketball enthusiasts, 2 for football and 2 open) per annum to students who have demonstrated the highest levels of sporting achievement and sportsmanship.

Thimphu, Bhutan: Some 26 Basketball coaches are currently attending a Technical Course organized by the Bhutan Basketball Federation in collaboration with the Bhutan Olympic Committee, funded by the Olympic Solidarity in the capital city of Thimphu.

Thimphu, Bhutan: The Bhutan Taekwondo Federation in collaboration with the Bhutan Olympic Committee is currently organizing a Technical Course for over 30 Taekwondo coaches in the capital city of Thimphu.

Punakha, Bhutan: Lightning struck twice at the Bhutan International Marathon today with last year’s winner of the full marathon, Sangay Wangchuk, 31, out running his competition once again. Sangay woke up at 3am feeling very anxious today, he said, but little did he know he would come out first from the 58 participants who had registered for the full marathon. A Physical Instructor at the Royal Bhutan Army, he has always been a keen runner.

The depth and dynamism of the Olympic Council of Asia at the start of another Asian Games year will be on display at the 32nd OCA General Assembly in Manila next week.
