Bhutan Shooting Federation Begins 5-Day
Physiological and Psychological Training for Athletes

Thimphu, April 12 – The Bhutan Shooting Federation (BSF) has launched a 5-day physiological and psychological training program for its players at the Bhutan Shooting Federation Hall in Thimphu. Led by Dr. Vandana Tanwar, a renowned and expert sports physiotherapist and founder of Physiolution (OPC) Pvt. Ltd from Delhi, India.

The training focuses not only on technical shooting skills but also on the physical and psychological well-being of athletes. It blends physiological therapy, mental conditioning, and practical strategies for long-term athletic development—all with the goal of building healthier, more resilient athletes.

The opening day began with an introductory session, during which players were welcomed into the program through a light and interactive Q&A. Dr. Tanwar engaged with the shooters to understand their current routines, experiences, and expectations. Players were introduced to the basics of recovery, mental preparation, and the importance of nutrition, setting the tone for the sessions ahead.

In the coming days, athletes will participate in a series of structured sessions, including:

  • Introduction to the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model

  • Individual sessions on shooting fundamentals

  • Workshops on sports injury prevention

  • Live demonstrations of postural and foot correction exercises

  • Recovery techniques for sustained performance

  • Athlete-friendly nutrition guidelines

Para-athlete Kinley Dem shared, “Opportunities like this really open our minds. Through this session, I’ve come to understand how important the physiological and psychological aspects are—not just before and after a match, but also during the game itself.”

The Bhutan Shooting Federation’s efforts in conducting such insightful sessions for the players is a growing understanding that excellence in sport comes from more than just time on the range. It’s about training smarter, thinking sharper, and taking care of both body and mind.

Dr. Vandana Tanwar shared, “Bhutanese athletes are very disciplined and focused, which is a great foundation. However, there is still much to learn when it comes to taking care of themselves both physically and mentally. Through this session, I will guide them step by step through essential procedures that are crucial for their overall development.”
