This afternoon, the Bhutan Bodybuilding Association (BBA) organized a heartfelt appreciation luncheon at Yarkay IHCL SeleQtions to honor the athletes and volunteers behind the success of the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship.

The event, attended by athletes, volunteers, officials, and dignitaries, was a moment of reflection, celebration, and unity for Bhutan’s bodybuilding community.

Opening the ceremony, BBA General Secretary Sonam Tobgay delivered an emotional message, recalling his own journey as a former Mr. Bhutan. “It has been a while since we all came together like this, united by our love for bodybuilding. This sport has shaped our lives in meaningful ways — promoting healthy living, discipline, and a shared sense of national pride,” he said, urging the athletes to continue being role models in their communities.

BBA President Dr. Sonam Maekay Penjor followed with a passionate address, expressing deep gratitude to the athletes for their dedication. “You are Bhutan’s greatest asset. The way you all came forward — your sacrifices, your commitment — it’s truly commendable. You made the nation proud beyond words,” he said. Dr. Penjor acknowledged not only the athletes but also the sponsors, well-wishers, and volunteers who played an integral role in the successful hosting of the championship.

Bhutan achieved an impressive feat in the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding Championship, bagging six gold, three silver, and four bronze medals. In recognition of their achievements, gold medalists received Nu 30,000, silver medalists Nu 20,000, and bronze medalists Nu 15,000. All other participants were awarded Nu 5,000 each, along with certificates of appreciation.

Adding to the celebratory spirit, Mr. Sourabh Bhadauria, Director of Sales & Marketing at Yarkay IHCL SeleQtions, extended his warmest Tashi Delek to the athletes. “It’s an honor for our hotel to host such inspiring individuals. On behalf of our team, we offer a small gesture to light up this moment — gift vouchers along with your prizes, in celebration of your hard-earned victories,” he said.
