Bhutan Sports Ventures Limited
Formally Incorporated
PRESS RELEASE
The commercial arm of the Bhutan Olympic Committee becomes a legal entity under the Companies Act of Bhutan 2016.
The Bhutan Olympic Committee announce the formal incorporation of Bhutan Sports Ventures Limited, the commercial arm of the BOC. The company was incorporated on 27th May 2026, four days ahead of the deadline set by the BOC Executive Committee.
Bhutan Sports Ventures (BSV) has been established as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) to spearhead the commercial development of sports in Bhutan. The company is mandated to facilitate private sector investment and participation in the sports, while leading the commercialization of sports assets and related business ventures. Through this initiative, BSV aims to strengthen the national sports ecosystem in alignment with Bhutan’s 10X Economic Vision and the broader development aspirations of the Gelephu Mindfulness City.
His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, said the development marks a defining step for Bhutanese sport. “For the first time in the history of Bhutanese sport, we have a dedicated commercial entity mandated to generate sustainable revenue. BSV is not just a company. It is the foundation of a sports economy this country has never had before. Today, we begin building it in earnest.”
The incorporation follows more than a year of institutional reform and strategic work across the sports sector. This includes the National Sports Strategy 2026 to 2036 developed by the Modernization Steering Committee, the launch of a four-federation pilot programme under the Build Team initiative, and the establishment of the High-Level Steering Committee to guide the National Sports Ecosystem Upgrade Agenda.
The High-Level Steering Committee, comprising senior government officials, representatives from Druk Holding and Investments, and members of the private sector, endorsed the incorporation of BSV at its inaugural meeting on 22 May 2026.
With incorporation complete, BSV will now proceed with the appointment of its Chief Executive Officer, the formation of its Board of Directors, and the rollout of its first commercial initiatives.
The CEO position has been publicly advertised with applications open until 15th June 2026. Interested candidates are invited to download the Terms of Reference at www.bhutanolympiccommittee.org
