Bhutan to Host Badminton Asia South

Bhutan is honored to host the Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Junior Championship 2025, scheduled to take place from 15th to 22nd August 2025 at the Bhutan Badminton Federation Hall in Bebena, Thimphu. This prestigious championship represents a significant milestone in Bhutan’s sports development journey, highlighting the nation’s growing role in nurturing young talent and fostering regional sporting excellence.
The event is organized through a collaborative effort between the Bhutan Olympic Committee and Badminton Asia, with generous sponsorship from Victor Sports. It will welcome a total of 61 talented junior players from Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, all converging to compete and strengthen ties across South Asia.
Tournament Categories and Participation
The 2025 championship will feature three competitive categories, including an exciting new addition:
- U23 (Under 23) — Newly introduced to bridge the gap between junior and senior levels
- U17 (Under 17)
- U15 (Under 15)
Bhutan will proudly field a strong team of 28 players, broken down as follows:
- U23: 8 players
- U17: 10 players
- U15: 10 players
The tournament format will begin with team matches, followed by individual events, offering multiple opportunities for players to display their skill, resilience, and sportsmanship.





Speaking about the championship, Head Coach Sherab Gyaltshen remarked:
“Hosting the Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Junior Championship is a landmark occasion for Bhutan badminton. Our young athletes have dedicated themselves to rigorous training, fueled by passion and discipline. “
