BOC Organised Anti-Doping and ADEL Education Session for

Team Bhutan Ahead of Aichi Nagoya 2026 Asian Games

As part of its preparations for the 20th Asian Games Aichi Nagoya 2026, the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), in collaboration with the Bhutan Anti-Doping Committee (BADC), conducted an Anti-Doping and Anti-Doping Education and Learning (ADEL) session today for the athletes and coaches who will represent Bhutan at the 20th Asian Games Aichi Nagoya 2026 (XX Asiad), Japan.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Nima Gyeltshen, Director of the Bhutan Anti-Doping Committee, and by two doping control officers from the Bhutan Olympic Committee, Ms. Chimi Wangmo and Ms. Jamyang Choden. A total of 13 athletes and coaches from the four sports disciplines selected for the Asian Games took part in the session, which aimed to strengthen their understanding of anti-doping rules and reinforce the importance of fair, ethical, and drug-free competition.

Participants were introduced to key aspects of anti-doping, including the World Anti-Doping Code, anti-doping rule violations, the Prohibited List, Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), doping control procedures, and the rights and responsibilities of athletes during testing. The session also highlighted the risks associated with nutritional supplements, the importance of checking medications before use, and the consequences of inadvertent doping.

The program also included the Anti-Doping Education and Learning (ADEL) platform developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Through the online modules, athletes and coaches deepened their understanding of international anti-doping standards, clean sport principles, and their responsibilities under the World Anti-Doping Code. All participants successfully completed the certification.

Speaking during the session, Mr. Gyeltshen emphasized that anti-doping education is a shared responsibility among athletes, coaches, and support personnel. He encouraged them to stay informed, make responsible decisions, and uphold the values of honesty, fairness, and respect both on and off the field of play.

With Bhutan set to field a 13-member contingent at the 20th Asian Games Aichi Nagoya 2026 (XX Asiad), Japan, the session marks an important step in the team’s ongoing preparations and reinforces their commitment to competing responsibly on the international stage.

The initiative reflects the Bhutan Olympic Committee’s continued commitment to promoting clean sport and ensuring that athletes compete with integrity, fairness, and respect for the values of sport.
