The Bhutan Olympic Committee will be Organizing a 5 kilometer Summer Run in Thimphu to celebrate the London Olympics.

The Olympic Day Celebrations (ODC) took place in Ugyen Dorji Higher Secondary School, Haa on the 2nd of June coinciding with the Coronation of the 4th Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty King Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The Coronation Marathon also took place on the same day with the flagging off of the marathon by the Dzongdag.

Bhutan Olympic Committee New Logo launched ! The BOC logo portrays the Olympic spirit through the dragon’s icon. The Dragon is moving and aspiring for excellence through sports for all. The Golden Dragon signifies prosperity and success. The concept of color jewels in each arm signifies the Olympic colors in union with our Bhutanese Olympic symbol, the dragon. The yellow and orange stripes nested in-between the dragon and the Olympic rings, runs in the back representing our national identity, the Bhutan Flag. The typeface has been selected to be simple, clear and complimenting the design. The Olympic symbol consists of five interlaced rings of equal dimensions expressing the activity of Olympic movement and represents the union of the five continents and the meetings of athletes from throughout the world. The logo in its entirety, brings a style of dynamism and high spirit.

The Bhutan Indigenous Games and Sports Association (BIGSA)/Bhutan Olympic Committee are pleased to announce the organization of the Silver Jubilee Coronation Archery Tournament in Compound bow with effect from 2nd June, 2012 with the final to be played some time in July 2012. Teams interested in participating in the above tournament are requested to register with the BIGSA by 31st May, 2012 not later than 2:00pm along with the names and ID Photo copy of the players and with an entry fee of Nu.10,000/-. A meeting of the team captains will be held at BIGSA canteen at Changlingmethang at 2:30pm and on the same day to draw up the fixture . The Bhutan Bodybuilding and Weight Lifting Federation will be organizing the 5th National Bodybuilding Championship on the 26th of May, 2012.

BCCB yearly club tournament know as BCCB Super League will be starting from the month of April 2012 in Thimphu district.

The Bhutan Basketball Federation (BBF) in association with the Bhutan Olympic Committee will be organizing the prestigious Coronation Basketball Cup.

 During the first day of the two day courtesy visit to the country, the FIFA (Federation International de’ Football Association) delegation led by the President, Mr. Joseph S. Blatter who was also accompanied by the Acting President of the AFC (Asian Football Confederation), Mr. Zhang Jilong were granted an audience with the King of Bhutan, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

A delegation from the Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) comprising of the President Mr. Joseph S. Blatter and the Acting President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Mr. Zhang Jilong will be here in the country on a 2 day visit from the 7th – 8 March.

The Bhutan Olympic Committee has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korean Olympic Committee. The agreement was signed between Mr. Yong Sung Park the President of the Korean Olympic Committee and His Majesty’s Representative and the President of Bhutan Olympic Committee, HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck.
