Mr Dai Tamesue, is a Japanese Olympian who competed in the year 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympic games at Sydney, Athens and Beijing respectively. He won two bronze medals at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, Canada and 2005 World Championships in Helsinki, Finland. He still currently holds the Japanese national record for the 400meter hurdles at 47.89 secs.
However, in 2012 Mr. Dai Tamesue retired and started an NGO called the Athlete Society to support athletes, of which he is the Chairman. Mr. Dai Tamesue hopes to use his experience and expertise as an athlete to support the Bhutan Amateur and Athletics Federation in developing and training its athletes. His aim is to be able to have Bhutanese athletes participate in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.
