Olympic Day Celebrations

Since 1984, Olympic Day is celebrated the anniversary of the International Olympic Committee. Olympic Day is celebrated by thousands of people in more than 160 countries, with the objective of getting as many people as possible, experiencing, the Olympic Values of move, learn and discover.

Commemorating the birth of the modern Olympic Games, Olympic Day is an international effort to promote fitness and well-being, in addition to the Olympic ideals of Fair Play, Perseverance and Sportsmanship.

The Bhutan Olympic Committee organized the Olympic Day Celebration, 2014 on the 2nd May at athletics athletics2 athletics3 badminton baseball 2 boxing entertainment football funride happy kids kidsfun shooting snacktime tennisgame turnout volunteers2Bumthang, during the celebrations a turnout of 1600 students participated in different disciplines of sports such as Athletics, Football, Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Shooting, Archery, Boxing and Baseball.

Taking the Olympic Day to different Dzongkhags every year, is in our way, in keeping with our vision of taking sports to all youth in the country.

The theme for this year is “Move, Learn and Discover”.
