The Bhutan Olympic Committee has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korean Olympic Committee. The agreement was signed between Mr. Yong Sung Park the President of the Korean Olympic Committee and His Majesty’s Representative and the President of Bhutan Olympic Committee, HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck.

The MOU will mainly focus on Exchange of Sports Teams where in the two NOC’s will dispatch national teams each year at invitations of the Inviting NOC to take part in national competitions. Further to improve the relationship between the two existing NOC’s, exchange of expertise/technical officials and Athletes will also take place.

The MOU will also encourage the planned development of Exchange Internship Programs where a member of each NOC will work with the partner NOC to understand the operation of the other NOC better.

The main purpose of the MOU is to strengthen the friendship between sportsmen and the people of the two countries in a spirit of independence and mutual respect, to exchange various programs to assist the further development of the Olympic Movement in the two concerned countries.

In order to give effect to this Agreement both the NOC’s have agreed to organize a ‘Joint Social Gathering Program’ at the athlete’s village during the opening ceremony of the upcoming Olympic Games.
