Accelerating Change
Empowering Women in Sports for a Stronger Bhutan
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) proudly stands with the global call to “Accelerate Action” for gender equality. This theme calls on all of us to do more—faster—to break down barriers and create opportunities where women can truly thrive, particularly in the world of sports.
Women have always played a crucial role in Bhutan’s sporting landscape, whether on the field, as coaches, or as leaders. Today, more and more women are stepping up, inspiring future generations with their courage and resilience. But we know there’s still work to be done. Women still face unique challenges in sports—whether it’s limited access to training, unequal pay, or fewer leadership roles.
That’s why the BOC is committed to continuing our efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for women in sports. We believe that if we can empower women to reach their fullest potential, they will not only succeed personally but also uplift entire communities.
This International Women’s Day, let’s not just celebrate the achievements of women in sports—let’s also commit to accelerating action toward greater equality. Every step we take today brings us closer to a future where women’s voices and contributions are truly valued, both on and off the field.
So, let’s continue this journey together. It’s time to accelerate the change that’s been long overdue. Happy International Women’s Day!
