ISSF Rifle Judges Course- Bhutan Shooting Federation

A two days International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) Rifle Judges Course was conducted in Thimphu by Mr. Paul Gumn, from 24th to 25th of May, 2017. Mr. Paul is a member of ISSF Technical Committee and is from United Kingdom. A total of 16 participants (11 male and 5 female) both coaches and shooters attended the course. All the participants were awarded a diploma certificate at the end of the course.

10th Bhutan Coronation Marathon, 2nd June 2017

Signing a Pre-Games Training Camp Agreement

HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, His Majesty’s Representative and the President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee today signed a Pre-Games Training Camp Agreement with the Kanagawa Prefectural Government in Yokohama. The agreement will help Bhutanese athletes train for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the Paralympic Games. During the visit HRH also called on H.E Mrs. Marukawa Tamayo, the Minister In-charge for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympic Games.

Two Days Regional Forum For South, West Asian NOCs: 1st and 2nd April, 2017

  A two days Olympic Solidarity (OS)/Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Regional Forum for South, West Asian National Olympic Committees (NOCs) was held at Muscat, Oman on the 1st and 2nd of April, 2017. Sheikh Khalid Al Zubair, Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee, graced the OS/OCA Regional Forum. He welcomed the  delegations from 20 NOCs  and said the region would benefit greatly from this forum. Representatives from the following NOCs attended the forum: (i) Afghanistan, (ii) Bhutan, (iii) Bangladesh, (iv) Bahrain, (v) Jordan, (vi) Iraq, (vii) Iran, (viii) India, (ix) Nepal, (x) Maldives, (xi) Lebanon, (xii) Yemen, (xiii) Qatar, (xiv) Palestine, (xv) Oman, (xvi) Pakistan, (xvii) United Arab Emirates, (xviii) Syria, (xix) Sri Lanka, and (xx) Saudi Arabia. Representatives from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Japan; Children of Asia International Sports Games, Sakha Republic, Russian Federation; Indonesia Asian Games 2018; and Olympic Council of Asia were also present during the forum. Mr. Wei Jizhong, Honorary Life Vice President of OCA;  Husain Al Musallam, Director General and Technical Director of OCA; Mr. Olivier Niamkey, Olympic Solidarity’s Head of the Athletes’ Unit;  and Mr. Taha Al Kishri, Secretary General of Oman Olympic Committee  also attended today’s forum. The forum was conducted by a team from Olympic Solidarity. The team made a presentation on the Olympic Solidarity plan for the XXXII Olympiad 2017 – 2020 and updated all the representatives on the support available  under the new Olympiad cycle.

Open Air Rifle Shooting Championship

Bhutan Shooting Federation is organizing an Open Air Rifle Shooting Championship for both the genders between the ages of 12 – 16 with effect from 15th to 26th March to commemorate the Birth Anniversary 5th Druk Gyalpo. The winners will not only get an opportunity to showcase their talent but they will also be awarded an attractive cash prizes and individual medals and opportunity to continue their sports career in shooting. RTC – BOC Sports Scholarship Announcement

Royal Thimphu College (RTC) & the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) jointly announce the availability of up to 6 sports scholarships for the academic year 2017. An equal number of slots will be provided for male and female candidates. The scholarship will cover all tuition and boarding costs for 3 years. Applicants who meet the RTC admissions criteria with outstanding sporting achievements may apply. Please visit www.rtc.bt or www.bhutanolympiccommittee.org for eligibility criteria and details. Application forms can be downloaded from the RTC or BOC websites or can be collected from the RTC city office at Room # 56, Chang Lam Plaza, Thimphu or the RTC admissions office at Ngabiphu.
