The Bhutan Olympic Committee with support from JICA is pleased to announce the introduction of baseball in Bhutan. Bhutan will be participating in the 23rd Annual World Children’s Baseball Fair 2013 in Fukui, Japan.

The Bhutan Basketball Federation would like to bring to your kind notice that the most prestigious Basketball Tournament, Coronation Cup, will be held on the 11th of May. Therefore all interested teams are asked to register with the Program Officer Mr. Tashi @+97517702548 during office hours. Registration forms can be downloaded from the link below.

The Olympic Day Celebrations (ODC) took place in Gedu, under Chukha Dzongkhag in Bhutan on the 2nd of May coinciding with the Birth Anniversary of the 3rd Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, representative of His Majesty and President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, was Chief Guest at the 56th National Shooting Championship in Hyderabad, India. The event was organized by the National Rifle Association of India. HRH also participated in one of the disciplines.

Lilly Yangchen was caught by surprise when her School Principal announced in the morning assembly to come in front of the entire school to come collect her invitation for the Asian Youth Games in Nanjing China from the Secretary General of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, Sonam Karma Tshering.

The members of the National Task Force who will be responsible for the development of Sports in the country met for the first time at the Bhutan Olympic Committee office on the 4th of April. For the development of Sports in a coherent and efficient manner, it was found essential to strengthen the coordination mechanism amongst the organizations involved in its development and promotion.

The Royal Thimphu College (RTC) and the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) jointly announces the availability of 6 Sports Scholarships (2- basketball, 2- football and 2 open) for the academic year 2013. The scholarship will cover all tuition and boarding costs for 3 years.

The latest winner of the Olympic Council of Asia’s Fun Learn quiz is 16-year-old Sonam Choden from Dechencholing Middle Secondary School in Thimphu. Sonam emerged victorious from a starting field of 120 students packed into the main hall of Lungtenzampa Middle Secondary School on Friday morning – the first day of the OCA’s two-day Fun Learn and Youth Reporter Project, held in conjunction with the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee (IAGOC) and Bhutan Olympic Committee.
