Open Air Rifle Shooting Championship

Bhutan Shooting Federation is organizing an Open Air Rifle Shooting Championship for both the genders between the ages of 12 – 16 with effect from 15th to 26th March to commemorate the Birth Anniversary 5th Druk Gyalpo. The winners will not only get an opportunity to showcase their talent but they will also be awarded an attractive cash prizes and individual medals and opportunity to continue their sports career in shooting. RTC – BOC Sports Scholarship Announcement

Royal Thimphu College (RTC) & the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) jointly announce the availability of up to 6 sports scholarships for the academic year 2017. An equal number of slots will be provided for male and female candidates. The scholarship will cover all tuition and boarding costs for 3 years. Applicants who meet the RTC admissions criteria with outstanding sporting achievements may apply. Please visit www.rtc.bt or www.bhutanolympiccommittee.org for eligibility criteria and details. Outstanding Volleyball Coaching Camp

A week long “Outstanding Volleyball Coaching Camp” ended yesterday. The camp was organized by the Bhutan Volleyball Federation at the Changlingmethang from 27th January till 2nd February, 2017. 20 School students from Chukha, Pemagatshel, Zhemgang, Wangdue, Lhuntse, Punakha and Thimphu attended the camp who were selected from the last National School Games. The students were awarded the certificate at the end of the camp. “I hope you will go back to your respective Dzongkhag and work closely with Dzongkhag Sports Association in promoting the Volleyball” said Mr. Namgyal Wangchuk, Head of Sports Research and Development Division, Bhutan Olympic Committee.

Olympic Solidarity: ITTF Level II Coaches Course

The Bhutan Table Tennis Federation (BTTF) conducted the Olympic Solidarity Course, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Level II Coaches Course from 26th to 31st December, 2016, in Thimphu, Bhutan. Mr. Mohammed Ameeh Mohammed Atoum from Jordan was the course director (ITTF Certified) and he is currently working as the Head Coach for Oman. 14 male & 1 female attended the course. The Course was jointly conducted by Olympic Solidarity, Bhutan Olympic Committee, ITTF and BTTF.

Olympic Solidarity: Shooting Coaching Course D-License

The Bhutan Shooting Federation (BSF) organized the Shooting Coaching Course D-License from 19th to 21st December, 2016. Mr. Kravs Jorn Christensen from Denmark was the Course Director. Currently, he works for Bangladesh Shooting Sports Federation as a Coach. 12 male and 10 female participated in the course and all the participants passed the course. The Course was jointly conducted by Olympic Solidarity, Bhutan Olympic Committee, International Shooting Sports Federation and BSF.

Executive Board Meeting of the South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC)

The Executive Board Meeting of the SAOC was held on 3rd of December, 2016, in Kathmandu, Nepal. His Excellency Mr. Daljit B.K. Shreepali, Minister of the Youth and Sports Ministry welcomed the delegates with a traditional khadar and inaugurated the ceremony by lighting a butter lamp. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, President of Nepal NOC, chaired the meeting. The following delegates attended the meeting: Mrs. Jyoti Rana, Vice President, Nepal NOC Tendi Lama Sherpa, Secretary General, Nepal NOC Sujan Lal Shrestha, Executive Secretary, Nepal NOC Nilendra Raj Shrestha, Member, Nepal NOC Gen. JUDO WINTER CAMP

JUDO WINTER CAMP The Bhutan Judo Association will conduct Judo training camps during the winter break for both advanced Judo players and beginners. The course is open to all. There are two venues and schedules: 1. For beginners (grassroots) Venue: YDF building (near Karma’s Coffee) Days: Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Time: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. 2.
