BOC-RUB Sports Scholarship, 2021

The Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) and Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) jointly announce the availability of 10 sports scholarships for the academic year 2021; 5 in any Tertiary Education Programmes under the RUB and 5 at the Paro College of Education to pursue Diploma in Sports and Physical Education. The scholarship will cover all tuition and boarding costs for 3 or 4 years in any Tertiary Education Programmes under the RUB and 2 years at the Paro College of Education. Applicants who meet the RUB admissions criteria with outstanding sporting achievements may apply. Applicants should submit duly filled application forms along with all relevant documents at the BOC’s Office located at the Changlingmethang National Stadium. Application forms can be downloaded HERE. **Preference will be given to National Athletes who have represented the country. The deadline for submission is 22nd of June, 2021 before 5:00 p.m.

RTC-BOC Sports Scholarship, 2021

(Application for RTC-BOC Sports Scholarship 2021 will open shortly) Royal Thimphu College (RTC) & the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) jointly announce the availability of up to 6 sports scholarships for the academic year 2021. The scholarship will cover all tuition and boarding costs for 3 years. Applicants who meet the RTC admissions criteria with outstanding sporting achievements may apply. Preference will be given to the National Athletes who have represented the country. Applicants should register online for admission and then submit the RTC-BOC sports scholarship form in hard copy. The forms can be downloaded from the RTC or BOC websites or can be collected from the RTC city office at Room # 56, Chang Lam Plaza, Thimphu or the RTC admissions office at Ngabiphu.  The Application form can be submitted at the RTC office, Ngabiphu or the RTC City Office at Chang Lam Plaza. Pursuant to the command received from His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, His Majesty’s Representative and President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), the BOC is compiling the data of all the cyclists across the country. The consolidated data will help in understanding the current base, to enable the establishment of a Cycling Association in the country. The Association, thereafter, could be the highest governing body for any matter related to the sport of cycling in the country. HRH PRINCE JIGYEL UGYEN WANGCHUCK GRANTED AN AUDIENCE

His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, the President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, granted an audience to the Presidents, General Secretaries, medal winning athletes and coaches of the National sports federations and sports associations, who won medals at the 13th South Asian Games held from the 1st to the 10th of December, in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal. His Royal Highness congratulated the athletes and stated that while this was one of the highest medal tallies ever won at the South Asian Games, he was even more proud of the way they had conducted themselves, and represented Bhutan, the Bhutan Olympic Committee, their federations and themselves. His Royal Highness commanded that they learn from this invaluable experience and continue to work and train hard to win further glory for the country and themselves. The Bhutan Olympic Committee, the National sports federations and sports associations were also commanded to review their current plans and programs, and adopt a more strategic, result based approach, to elite athlete development. Bhutan won 20 medals, 7 silver and 13 bronze medals at the recently concluded 13th South Asian Games, 2019.
