Bhutan Olympic Committee Holds 29th Executive Committee Meeting
The Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) convened its 29th Executive Committee (EC) Meeting on 8 May 2026 in Thimphu, chaired by HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck.
The meeting reviewed progress on the National Sports Ecosystem Upgrade Agenda and endorsed several key strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the governance, sustainability, and long-term development of sport in Bhutan.
In his opening remarks, HRH emphasized the importance of positioning sport as a national agenda that contributes to youth development, social impact, national identity, and economic opportunity. HRH also acknowledged the work of the Modernisation Steering Committee (MSC) in conducting a comprehensive assessment of the sports sector.
The Executive Committee endorsed the establishment of key institutional mechanisms to support the ecosystem upgrade, including a High-Level Steering Committee (HLSC), the continued operations of the Build Team, and the incorporation of Bhutan Sports Ventures (BSV) as the commercial arm of the BOC.
Updates were also presented on the phased implementation of pilot reforms across selected sports organizations, as well as the establishment of BSV to strengthen financial sustainability and unlock new opportunities in sponsorship, events, tourism, and sports-related enterprises.
