Dr. Sonam Penjor Elected Vice President of South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation

In a major development for Bhutanese sports, Dr. Sonam Penjor, President of the Bhutan Bodybuilding Association, has been officially elected Vice President of the South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation during the Executive Council Meeting held earlier today.

This marks a significant moment for Bhutan, as there had been no active representative from the country in the federation until now. Dr. Penjor’s unanimous election fills that gap, with members recognizing his steadfast commitment and valuable contributions to the growth of bodybuilding both within Bhutan and on the international stage.

Speaking on the occasion, Datuk Paul Chua, President of the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (WBPF) and the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation, expressed his strong belief in Dr. Penjor’s leadership:

“Dr. Sonam Penjor brings passion, commitment, and an unshakable belief in the potential of sports to transform lives. We are confident that under his leadership, Bhutan will not only nurture a new generation of athletes but also emerge as a strong voice in South Asian bodybuilding. We are optimistic that Bhutan will soon be ready to host a World Championship — a dream that now seems well within reach.”

Reacting with humility and gratitude, Dr. Penjor shared his thoughts on the unexpected honour:
