Bhutan Anti-Doping Committee: Logo Competition

Bhutan Olympic Committee would like to invite development of logo for the Bhutan Anti-Doping Committee (BADC) through open competition. The logo should be thematic to actual business of the BADC. (Dope free sports/clean sport/fair play/upholding spirit of sports) and with Bhutanese expression. It must be submitted as a scalable vector graphic in EPS format and also as a JPG through email to Mr. Sonam Tshewang at [email protected] . The date for submission is July 10, 2017. TCD National Volleyball Championship: 7th – 9th June, 2017

The Semi-finals and final of the TCD National Volleyball Championship which started on the 7th of June ended today, the Friday, 9th of June, 2017. The championship was held at Changlingmethang Volleyball Court. Semi-finals were played between Tsirang Sports Association (TSA) & Samtse Sports Association (SSA), and Samdrup-Jongkhar Sports Association (SJSA) & Paro Sports Association (PSA). Semi-finals Result: TSA Vs. SSA Results:- Score: Set 1 [26:24], Set 2[18:25], Set 3[33:31], Set 4[17:25] and Set 5[15:10] Tsirang won the match in the deciding set. SJSA Vs. PSA Results:- Score: Set 1[13:25], Set 2[19:25] and Set 3[21:25] Paro won the match.   Final was played between Tsirang Sports Association and Paro Sports Association. Finals’ Result: Tsirang Vs. Paro:- Score: Set 1[22:25], Set 2[23:25] and Set 3[15:25]   The TCD National Volleyball Championship was organized by the Bhutan Volleyball Federation in collaboration with the Woezer Events and with support from the Bhutan Olympic Committee. The Championship was sponsored by private companies: TCD Traders, JD Construction, STCBL, Bhutanese Culinary Training Institute, Tashi Beverages Pvt. Ground breaking ceremony of the new office of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, 7th June, 2017

His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, His Majesty’s Representative and President of Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) graced the ground breaking ceremony of the new office of the BOC here in Thimphu. Mr. Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Director of the National Olympic Committee Relations of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) was also present during the ceremony. The Project is funded by the OCA.

National Volleyball Championship 2017, Changlingmethang

A three days National Volleyball Championship 2017 kicked off today at Changlingmethang. Following ten Dzongkhag Sports Associations are taking part in the Championship: 1) Bumthang, 2) Haa, 3) Paro, 4) Phuentsholing, 5) Sarpang-Gelephu, 6) Samdrup Jongkhar, 7) Samtse, 8) Trashigang, 9) Tsirang, 10) Wangduephodrang. South Asia Olympic Council Meeting, Thimphu, Bhutan: 6th June, 2017

The Bhutan Olympic Committee hosted a meeting of the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) in Thimphu, Bhutan on the 6th of June 2017. The presidents and secretary generals from the South Asian Olympic Committees of Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, attended the meeting. A senior representative from the Olympic Council of Asia, Mr. Vinod Kumar Tiwari also attended the meeting. All of the delegates are here for the first time and further, this is the first time ever that the South Asian Olympic Council  has representatives from all South Asian countries present.   The meeting was inaugurated by His Excellency Lyonpo Norbu Wangchuk, Hon’ble Education Minister, Ministry of Education as the Chief Guest in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, His Majesty’s Representative and the President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee.   His Excellency Lyonpo Norbu Wangchuk, stated that, “Bhutan had the honour of hosting our first South Asian Olympic Council meeting here in Thimphu in December 2005. It has been 12 long years since and most of the Presidents and Secretary Generals of the South Asian Olympic Committees have changed. However, what has not changed is our commitment, our energy and our zeal, to promote sports in our region.”   Lyonpo also said that, “the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Bhutan Olympic Committee are working to make Bhutan a sporting country, one with a vibrant sporting culture. We are committed to make sport a part of our daily lives by putting in place an enabling environment for the overall development of sports. An important step towards this aspiration is the development of a National Sports Policy and the cabinet has recently commissioned the development of the national sports policy that will provide the strategic direction and bring together all actors in making Bhutan a sporting nation.”   The SAOC meeting discussed various issues related to the development of sports in the region and also looked at finalizing revisions to the constitution of the SAOC. The members will also be finalizing the dates and sporting events for the next games to be hosted in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2019.

ISSF Rifle Judges Course- Bhutan Shooting Federation

A two days International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) Rifle Judges Course was conducted in Thimphu by Mr. Paul Gumn, from 24th to 25th of May, 2017. Mr. Paul is a member of ISSF Technical Committee and is from United Kingdom. A total of 16 participants (11 male and 5 female) both coaches and shooters attended the course. All the participants were awarded a diploma certificate at the end of the course.
