Theme: “Where Every Student Becomes a Champion of Sport, Story and Spirit”
Thimphu, Bhutan – The Sports in School Carnival 2025 is scheduled to take place on 21st and 22nd September 2025, hosted across Woochu Sports Arena and Rinpung Sports Arena, bringing together nearly 600 students from four pilot schools and three external schools to celebrate athletic excellence, teamwork, and the development of core values through sports.
The carnival will be guided by core values including Unity – bringing schools, students, and teachers together; Leadership – empowering youth to take charge beyond the field; Healthy Living – promoting active lifestyles and well-being; Creativity – encouraging storytelling, media, and entrepreneurship; and Legacy.
In addition to the main competitions, the carnival will feature a variety of activities to engage both participants and spectators. Attendees can enjoy an array of food stalls and participate in mini sports stalls, creating a festive and interactive atmosphere for everyone.
The event will feature competitions in four disciplines: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and Athletics, providing students an opportunity to showcase their skills, resilience, and sportsmanship.
Participating pilot schools include:
- Woochu Lower Secondary School
- Khangkhu Middle Secondary School
- Chundu Armed Forces Public School
- Dechencholing Higher Secondary School
Participating external schools include:
- The Royal Academy
- Shari Higher Secondary School
- Drugyel Higher Secondary School
The primary objective of including external schools is to expose them to the vibrant sporting culture cultivated within the pilot schools, illustrating how structured sports programs can positively impact student growth, school environment, and community spirit.
The award ceremony, recognizing outstanding performances and achievements of students, will be held at Woochu Sports Arena, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and honoring every student’s journey as a champion in sport, story, and spirit.
The 2025 Sports in School Carnival will highlight the dedication to developing young athletes and promoting the principles of discipline, collaboration, and determination, while encouraging all participants to embrace the spirit of a thriving sporting culture.
