As the Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Championships 2025 continue in Thimphu, members of Badminton Asia paid a courtesy visit to the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), meeting with Secretary General Mr. Sonam Karma Tshering to strengthen ties and explore future opportunities for the sport in Bhutan.

The visiting delegation included Mr. Dato Kenny Goh Chee Keong, Secretary General and Vice President of Badminton Asia, Mr. Jassem Kanso, Treasurer/Continental Representative and Vice President in BWF, along with several chairs and senior officials of Badminton Asia. The meeting was also attended by officials from the Bhutan Olympic Committee and the Bhutan Badminton Federation.

During discussions, the Badminton Asia officials expressed deep appreciation to the BOC for Bhutan’s successful hosting of the ongoing championships, noting that Bhutan has proven itself a capable and welcoming destination for international badminton events. They emphasized the growing popularity of badminton across South Asia, including Bhutan, and acknowledged the strong potential for the country to host more prestigious tournaments in the future.
