Bhutan Aquatics Federation Concludes Intensive Swimming Program for De-suung Skilling Participants
The Bhutan Aquatics Federation successfully concluded its Intensive Swimming Program for De-suung Skilling Participants today at the Bhutan Aquatic Centre in Thimphu. The closing ceremony was graced by the Secretary General of the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), along with officials and dignitaries from both the BOC and the De-suung Skilling Program.
The program, designed to equip participants with essential swimming techniques and water safety skills, is part of a broader initiative under the De-suung Skilling Program to empower Bhutanese youth through structured training and sports development.
As part of the closing event, participants were awarded certificates of completion, marking the successful culmination of the rigorous training sessions. Following the award distribution, the participants gave a live demonstration of their newly acquired swimming skills, showcasing confidence, discipline, and enthusiasm in the water.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, one trainee shared, “This program has not only helped us overcome our fear of water but also built our confidence and endurance. We’re proud to take these skills forward, whether for personal safety or professional opportunities.”
The event highlighted the importance of swimming as a life skill and its growing relevance in Bhutan’s broader efforts to promote youth engagement, physical fitness, and skill-building.
The Bhutan Aquatics Federation, in collaboration with BOC and De-suung, continues to pave the way for meaningful sports development in the country, aligning closely with the national vision of youth empowerment through skilling and service.
