Bhutan Olympic Committee and Aurora Group Sign
Historic MOU to Advance Cycling in Bhutan
Thimphu, Bhutan – January 20, 2025 – In an important event held yesterday in Thimphu, the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) and Aurora Group officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to propel the development of cycling in Bhutan. This partnership is set to promote Bhutan as a global destination for cycling through integration of Bhutan World on MyWhoosh Virtual Cycling Application, showcasing Bhutan’s landscapes to cycling enthusiasts worldwide. Additionally, the Altitude Training Camp for Professional Cyclists will position Bhutan as a premier high-altitude training hub for international athletes.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Sonam Karma Tshering, Secretary-General of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “This partnership marks a new era for Bhutanese cycling. With the expertise and resources from Aurora Group, we are confident that Bhutan will emerge as a recognized hub for elite cycling and sports tourism.”
Melissa Moncada, Founder & CEO of Aurora Group, shared her excitement about the collaboration, saying, “Bhutan’s unique geography and deep-rooted cultural heritage make it an exceptional destination for cyclists. We are proud to support this initiative and look forward to seeing Bhutan’s cycling community thrive on the international stage.”
The MOU will remain in effect for three years, with the potential for extension upon mutual agreement. The initiatives under this agreement are expected to bring global recognition to Bhutan’s cycling scene and provide significant opportunities for local athletes and sports tourism.
