Bhutan Tennis Federation to Send Junior Players for Training Camp in India
Thimphu, Bhutan —The Bhutan Tennis Federation (BTF), with the support of the Government of India (GOI) and the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), is providing a valuable opportunity for a group of junior tennis players to participate in a 10-day training camp in Kolkata, India, from 17th to 26th May. Hosted by the Bengal Tennis Association (BTA), this camp represents a key part of BTF’s ongoing efforts to nurture young talent by offering exposure and access to diverse coaching expertise.
A total of eleven players, five girls and six boys, were selected for the camp following two months of intensive domestic training. Their selection was based on their discipline, commitment, and consistent improvement throughout the training period. This opportunity will allow the players to train under experienced Indian coaches. The camp will include targeted sessions focused on technical development, match strategy, and both mental and physical conditioning. Additionally, friendly matches with Indian junior players will further enhance their experience by exposing them to different playing styles and a higher level of competition.
Beyond athletic development, BTF believes such experiences are equally crucial for personal growth, as they encourage young players to step outside their comfort zones, develop resilience, and discover their potential in new and unfamiliar settings. Furthermore, the camp provides meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange, mutual respect, and the formation of lasting friendships among tennis players from both nations.

Looking ahead, BTF aims to strengthen its collaboration with Indian tennis associations and clubs through future coaching exchanges and joint development programs. The federation also seeks to involve parents more actively, making these initiatives a more inclusive and sustainable aspect of players development. The Bhutan Tennis Federation expresses its heartfelt gratitude to GOI and BOC for making this journey possible for young student athletes.
