BOC Concludes Comprehensive Sports Administrators Course

After four days of dynamic learning, collaboration, and strategic dialogue, the Sports Administrators Course organized by the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), with the support of Olympic Solidarity, concluded successfully at the National Coaching Academy today.

The course emphasized not only technical knowledge but also the importance of values-based leadership and collaboration across Bhutan’s sporting ecosystem. Speaking on the occasion, Course Coordinator Ms. Jamyang Choden highlighted the larger vision behind the training:

“Our goal is to cultivate a new generation of sports administrators who are not just capable managers, but also champions of integrity, inclusivity, and long-term development.”

Participants echoed their sentiment, citing the course as transformative.

“This was more than a training—it gave us direction,” said Aanisha Rai, a participant from the Bhutan Karate Association. “I now have a clearer roadmap to strengthen our federation’s programs and policies.”

Another participant, Sonam Choden of the Bhutan Basketball Federation, emphasized the sense of unity fostered during the program:

“Collaborating with peers from different sports helped me see the bigger picture. We’re not working in silos—we’re building the future of Bhutanese sport together.”

The four-day Sports Administrators Course concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony, recognizing the active engagement and dedication of all participants. Certificates were presented by Mr. Kinley Tshering, Head of Infrastructure Development Division of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, who commended the cohort for their commitment to professional growth and their shared role in advancing Bhutan’s sporting landscape.

The course brought together 17 participants representing various National Sports Federations (NSFs), alongside 15 expert facilitators drawn from diverse disciplines. Designed to strengthen the operational capacity of sports administrators, the sessions addressed key areas such as strategic planning, governance, digital communication, financial sustainability, safeguarding sport integrity, and inclusive development.

Throughout the program, participants engaged in interactive discussions and practical group activities aimed at aligning their federation strategies with national priorities and the Olympic values. Presentations covered an impressive range of subjects—from Bhutan’s homegrown BEAST athlete development model to anti-doping awareness, digital storytelling, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence in sports administration.

Sessions also delved into essential administrative competencies, including financial reporting, procurement processes, visa and work permit regulations, and the implementation of the Safe Sport Policy. In a country increasingly looking to build capacity across all sectors of sport, these insights provided critical tools for the effective governance of federations and associations.
