BOC Hosts Media Collaboration Workshop for Federations and Associations

In an effort to strengthen the visibility of sports in Bhutan and foster better communication across all sporting bodies, the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) hosted a special session titled “Working Together for Stronger Sports Visibility – A Collaborative Media Strategy for Federations & Associations” on its campus today.

Led by Victor Gurung, Media & Technical Lead Consultant, the session brought together representatives from all the federations and associations under BOC with a shared mission: to build a more unified, organized, and impactful media presence for Bhutanese sports and athletes.

The workshop wasn’t just about pointing out challenges—it was about solving them together.

“We’re all on the same team,” Victor said during the session. “This isn’t about blaming anyone. It’s about supporting each other so we can tell better stories, celebrate our athletes, and make sure their hard work gets the spotlight it deserves.”

The session dove into real-life examples of missed opportunities—from last-minute event announcements to blurry photos and confusing press releases. Participants laughed, nodded, and related as Victor highlighted these challenges with a touch of humour and honesty.

Practical solutions were then shared, including a three-phase communication template (pre-event, during-event, post-event), photo-taking tips, and a group activity where teams reflected on their past mistakes and brainstormed better strategies. Each group then shared what they learned, and many pledged to improve coordination, appoint dedicated media focal persons, and work more closely with BOC.

One of the key takeaways? That BOC Media isn’t just a team—it’s a partner.

“If you ever feel stuck or overwhelmed, we’re here. Media doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs a little planning, teamwork, and heart,” Victor added.

The energy in the room was collaborative and hopeful. Federations left with a renewed sense of responsibility and a clearer understanding of how to showcase their athletes and events better.
