Closing Ceremony Marks the Completion of Bhutan Olympic Committee’s
Summer Immersion Program 2025

With a spirit of gratitude and reflection, the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) today held the closing and certification ceremony of the Summer Immersion Program 2025 at the BOC Headquarters in Thimphu. The program, an initiative rooted in education, engagement, and empowerment, concluded after an intensive and enriching learning experience for students from four pilot schools in the capital.

The ceremony was honoured by the presence of Mr. Kinley Tshering, General Secretary of the Bhutan Badminton Federation, who joined as the Chief Guest and presented certificates to the participants. In his remarks, Mr. Tshering acknowledged the dedication of the students and appreciated the BOC for pioneering such a forward-thinking initiative.

“This program demonstrates how sport can serve as a powerful tool for education and personal growth. I’m encouraged by the confidence, curiosity, and leadership potential shown by the students. These qualities will no doubt contribute to the continued development of sports in Bhutan,” Mr. Tshering shared.

Organised by the Bhutan Olympic Committee and funded by Olympic Solidarity, the program was delivered in collaboration with key national sports federations and media professionals. Participants engaged in two tracks: Peer Coaching & Refereeing (12 days) and Media & Communication (10 days), each structured to provide hands-on learning experiences and build essential skills in sport, leadership, and communication.

Guided by the principles of the Olympic Values Education Program (OVEP), the Summer Immersion Program placed strong emphasis on the core Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect, while also promoting fair play, perseverance, and teamwork.
