Let’s Celebrate Abilities
Join Us for the 6th Paralympic Festival 2025
The Bhutan Olympic Committee is proud to support and celebrate the 6th Paralympic Festival, a vibrant event organized by the Bhutan Paralympic Committee (BPC), scheduled for 24 May 2025 at the BAF Athletics Ground in Lungtenzampa, Thimphu.
This year’s theme — “Para Sports in Action – Inclusion and Celebration” — brings to life a powerful truth: when we create space for everyone to move, to play, and to be part of something bigger, we build a world where dignity and joy are shared. Para sports open a gateway — to confidence, to expression, to a sense of belonging. They become a place where a child finds their voice through movement, where courage meets community, and where strength wears many faces.
Every event, every race, every cheer on the field is a celebration of ability — not in comparison, but in its own light. A boy navigating the track with determination, a girl signing instructions to her team, young people standing shoulder to shoulder — these are moments that remind us what inclusion really means. It’s a shift from sympathy to solidarity. A quiet revolution where those once on the sidelines become the ones leading the way.
Through para sports, we begin to understand that true celebration lies in participation, that growth blooms in connection, and that everyone — absolutely everyone — has something extraordinary to give.
With over 250 students from Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools such as Draktsho Vocational Training Centre for Special Children and Youth and Wangsel Institute for the Deaf, along with able-bodied peers and 100+ student volunteers, the event promises a day filled with shared joy, learning, and powerful human connection.
The festival will feature inclusive and adaptive sport stations designed to offer hands-on experiences in para-sports, encourage teamwork, and create space for interaction and empathy. It’s a rare and beautiful chance for participants of all abilities to come together, break barriers, and build lasting friendships.
Why does this matter?
- Because inclusion must be lived, not just talked about.
- Because sport is a right — and a source of empowerment.
- Because when we play together, we learn to see beyond differences and celebrate the extraordinary in everyone.
Through this festival, the Bhutan Paralympic Committee reinforces its unwavering commitment to building a society that values courage, determination, inspiration, and equality — the core values of the Paralympic movement. It is also a proud step forward in Bhutan’s national journey toward a more inclusive and compassionate society.
We warmly invite all educators, youth groups, institutions, families, and supporters to come and be part of this beautiful celebration.
