Physiological and Psychological Training for Athletes’ Program Concludes at Bhutan Shooting Federation
Thimphu, April 16 — A weeklong training program, ‘Physiological and Psychological Training for Athletes’ concluded today at the Bhutan Shooting Federation in Changlimithang, Thimphu. The training was led by Dr. Vandana Tanwar, a renowned sports physiotherapist from India, and was conducted with support from the Government of India and the Bhutan Olympic Committee.


Ms. Namashaa Kesaria, Secretary from the Embassy of India in Thimphu, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Dr. Tanwar and officials from the Bhutan Shooting Federation were also present.
The session began with an address by Mr. Nima Gyeltshen, Director of the Bhutan Anti-Doping Committee, who emphasized the importance of clean sports in protecting athletes’ health, ensuring fair play, and upholding the integrity of sports.
General Secretary of the Bhutan Shooting Federation, Mr. Gyamtsho, highlighted how such initiatives are essential for developing athletes not only physically but also mentally. He noted that holistic training prepares the athletes to face the demands of both sport and life.
Athlete Kinley Penjor also expressed his gratitude to the federation for organizing the program. He shared that the training helped him and his peers understand the importance of overall well-being as sportspeople and the long-term benefits it brings to their performance and personal development.
Throughout the week, athletes took part in technical shooting sessions, physiotherapy, mental conditioning, and discussions on long-term athletic development. The program aimed to build stronger, healthier, and more balanced athletes by addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of sports.
