Sports Nutrition Workshop for BEAST Athletes
Thimphu, 19 December 2025 – The comprehensive three-day Sports Nutrition Workshop for BEAST athletes officially began today at the Bhutan Olympic Committee, Thimphu. The workshop is organized by the Athlete Commission of Bhutan (ACB) in collaboration with the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), with support from Olympic Solidarity. The initiative aims to enhance participants’ understanding of sports nutrition and its role in athletic performance.
This workshop specifically targets athletes — elite competitors enrolled in the Bhutan Elite Athlete Support and Training Program (BEAST) Program, a flagship high-performance athlete development pathway of the Bhutan Olympic Committee. Launched in 2024, the BEAST Program is designed to systematically identify, support and prepare Bhutan’s top athletes with structured training, scientific support, and targeted resources to elevate their performance at major continental and international competitions, including the Asian Games and the Olympics.
The workshop’s opening day includes sessions on basic human and sports nutrition, physiological fundamentals, hydration strategies, supplementation basics, and nutrition periodization. Participants are beginning with registration and a pre-test to benchmark their current understanding, followed by expert-led presentations and interactive discussions. A virtual module delivered by an international sports nutritionist highlights practical dietary strategies for pre-, during- and post-exercise fueling.
Over the next two days, the workshop will progress into applied and clinical sports nutrition, covering individual dietary assessments, meal planning aligned with athletes’ training cycles, anthropometric evaluations, and the interpretation of body composition and key metabolic indicators. The concluding sessions will emphasize one-to-one consultations, post-workshop assessments, and participant feedback to reinforce learning outcomes.
Through this focused collaboration between the Athlete Commission of Bhutan, the Bhutan Olympic Committee, and Olympic Solidarity, the initiative reaffirms a shared commitment to building a robust, science-based athlete support system, aimed at enhancing performance excellence and strengthening competitiveness on the international stage.
