Bhutan Grand Prix III Brings Elite International Archery Competition to Thimphu
The Bhutan Archery Federation is organizing the Bhutan Grand Prix III in collaboration with the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), with support from the Embassy of India, Thimphu. The premier high-performance archery competition will be held from 27 February to 1 March 2026 at Babena Football Ground, Thimphu.
Now in its third edition, the Bhutan Grand Prix continues to grow as an important platform for competitive excellence, athlete development, and international sporting cooperation. The event promotes international-standard archery while supporting Bhutan’s long-term vision of developing athletes capable of competing successfully at regional and global levels.
Participation and International Exposure
A total of 47 archers are competing in Bhutan Grand Prix III, including:
- 27 archers from India (21 male and 6 female)
- 20 Bhutanese archers (17 male and 3 female)
Athletes will compete in both compound and recurve categories. Notably, recurve archery has been introduced in this year’s edition to strengthen Bhutan’s pathway toward Olympic-style archery. The inclusion aims to:
- Enhance alignment with Olympic competition formats
- Broaden athlete development opportunities
- Raise technical and competitive standards
- Better prepare Bhutanese archers for international events
The tournament is officiated by three experienced technical officials and judges from India, ensuring professional and internationally aligned officiating standards.

Bhutan Grand Prix III features a total prize pool of Nu. 605,000 (Nu. Six Hundred and Five Thousand only), reflecting the event’s commitment to rewarding excellence and promoting high-performance archery.

This special category has been introduced in the third edition to identify, motivate, and reward emerging Bhutanese compound archers with no prior international or regional exposure, ensuring long-term athlete development and strengthening the national talent pipeline.
