Sports Science Course Hosts Integrity and Anti-Doping Sessions at National Coaching Academy

As part of the ongoing 3rd Batch Sports Science Course, three educational sessions were successfully conducted at the National Coaching Academy Centre, Thimphu. The sessions brought together Sports Science course participants and athletes preparing for the upcoming Sanya Beach Games.

The program focused on key areas essential to modern sports development, including sports integrity, athlete welfare, and fair competition. Mr. Sonam Namgyal delivered a session on Prevention of Manipulation in Competition, emphasizing the importance of upholding ethical standards and integrity in sport.

This was followed by a Safeguarding (Safe Sport) session conducted by Mrs. Sonam Yangchen, which highlighted athlete protection and the importance of creating a safe and inclusive sporting environment.

An Anti-Doping Workshop was conducted by Mr. Nima Gyeltshen, providing participants with essential knowledge on clean sport principles, anti-doping regulations, and the roles and responsibilities of athletes and support personnel.

Similarly, Sanya Beach Games athlete Jurme Rangdel highlighted the value of the sessions from an athlete’s perspective. “The anti-doping and safeguarding sessions were especially useful. They helped us understand our responsibilities as athletes and the importance of competing fairly while ensuring our own safety and well-being,” he shared.

The sessions were organized to strengthen awareness and understanding of ethical practices, athlete safety, and anti-doping compliance, supporting the overall objectives of the Sports Science Course while preparing both athletes and course participants for upcoming national and international competitions.
