Bhutan Badminton Federation Celebrates
World Badminton Day
Thimphu, July 5, 2025 — The Bhutan Badminton Federation (BBF) celebrated World Badminton Day today at the Badminton Hall in Bebena, Thimphu, joining the global community in marking the founding of the International Badminton Federation (now Badminton World Federation) on July 5, 1934.
This year’s celebration was extra special as it coincided with two ongoing programs—the Basic Summer Badminton Coaching Camp and the Selection and Intensive Training Camp for the Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Junior Championship 2025, both of which officially kicked off on July 1.
With racquets in hand and smiles on faces, the celebration brought together players, coaches, and badminton enthusiasts from across the capital. The event embraced the global theme “Raise a Racket,” aimed at uniting people of all ages, genders, and abilities to celebrate the sport in a fun and inclusive way.
Coach Norbu Dradhul, who has been closely guiding young athletes at the camp, shared,
“The celebration focused on the global theme ‘Raise a Racket,’ bringing all the players, coaches, and badminton enthusiasts together—regardless of age, gender, or ability—to simply have fun and promote the sport.”
The day saw a mix of friendly games, interactive activities, team bonding sessions, and moments where beginners and national-level players shared the same court. Young participants got the chance to learn from experienced coaches and observe the dedication of Bhutan’s rising shuttlers in action.
As the day came to a close, what stood out wasn’t just the rallies or the drills—it was the laughter, the cheers, and the shared sense of excitement that filled the hall. For many young players, it was their first time being part of something bigger than just a training session. For others, it was a reminder of why they fell in love with the game in the first place.
