Tomorrow, the roads and trails of western Bhutan will roar with the power of pedals as the Dragon Fury Mountain Bike Race 2025 gets underway. This year’s edition proudly commemorates the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Covering a 70-kilometre course from Gadhen Lingka Park, Wangdue Phodrang to the Clock Tower in Thimphu, the Dragon Fury is set to challenge riders with punishing climbs, technical descents, and breathtaking scenery. A total of 68 riders will line up at the start — 61 men and 7 women — including seasoned veterans, rising stars, and legendary names in Bhutanese cycling.

The Dragon Fury has earned its place as one of Bhutan’s premier cycling events, combining fierce competition with the celebration of community, resilience, and the country’s unique landscapes. Riders will push their limits on rugged terrain, while spectators can witness the determination and grit that define mountain biking at its best.

The race is organized by the Dzongkhag Administration of Wangdue Phodrang, in partnership with the Bhutan Olympic Committee, and is supported by the Department of Tourism and Yu-Druk Cycle Shop and official partners includes Tashi Beverages Limited (Coca-Cola Bhutan) as the Official Beverage Sponsor, and Karma Groups as the Official First Aid Supply Partner.

With the starting whistle at Gadhen Lingka Park and the finish line at Thimphu’s iconic Clock Tower, the Dragon Fury will once again showcase why Bhutan is fast becoming a destination for world-class cycling.
