Thimphu, 11 February 2026: His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck and the Bhutanese sporting community had the honour of welcoming Her Majesty the Gyalyum Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck to the Bhutan Olympic Committee Headquarters. Her Majesty was graciously accompanied by Her Royal Highness Ashi Sonam Dechan Wangchuck and His Eminence Vairochana Rinpochhe.

The visit followed His Royal Highness’s re-election as a Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the 145th IOC Session in Milan, reaffirming Bhutan’s growing presence within the global Olympic Movement.

In his address, His Royal Highness expressed gratitude to the BOC staff and National Sports Federations for their dedication to advancing sports in the Kingdom.

Her Majesty commended the collective efforts of the sporting community and conveyed her prayers for continued excellence, unity, and service to the nation through sport.

His Royal Highness also serves as Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia, further strengthening Bhutan’s role in regional and international sports governance.
