The curtains fell today on the 3rd Jita Kyoei International Judo Tournament for Children, an event that over five days transformed Tashi Pelkhil Village, Nazhirama, into a hub of youthful energy, discipline, and international friendship.

For the first time in its sporting history, Bhutan proudly hosted the Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Championships 2025, turning the Bhutan Badminton Federation Hall in Bebena, Thimphu into a hub of energy, excitement, and unforgettable sporting moments from August 15 to 22.

As the Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Championships 2025 continue in Thimphu, members of Badminton Asia paid a courtesy visit to the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), meeting with Secretary General Mr. Sonam Karma Tshering to strengthen ties and explore future opportunities for the sport in Bhutan.

This makes Dr. Penjor the first Bhutanese to hold this position in Asian bodybuilding history, a recognition that cements Bhutan’s growing influence in the sport. He was the first Bhutanese to be elected as Vice President of the South Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Federation earlier this year—and now, just months later, he becomes the first Bhutanese to be elected as Vice President of the Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Federation.

The Bhutanese badminton teams in the Under-15, Under-17, and Under-23 categories endured a challenging outing at the ongoing Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Championships 2025 – Team Events, suffering defeats against strong sides from Sri Lanka and Nepal.
