Bhutan Paralympic Committee Announces 7th Paralympic Festival 2026
at Gesarling Central School, Dagana

The Bhutan Paralympic Committee is delighted to announce that the 7th Paralympic Festival 2026 will take place at Gesarling Central School, Dagana, on 15th April 2026, bringing together over 800 students for a meaningful celebration of inclusion, ability, and the transformative power of sport.

Under the theme “We See Ability”, the festival emphasizes a simple yet powerful idea: inclusion begins with how we see one another. It encourages everyone to look beyond limitations and recognize the strength, potential, and uniqueness in every individual.

The festival will welcome students from across the community, including 32 SEN students, along with parents, teachers, community members, and officials from the Bhutan Paralympic Committee, Bhutan Olympic Committee, National Sports Federations, and the Dagana Dzongkhag administration. With a focus on inclusive participation, every student will have the opportunity to engage and feel valued.

Participants will enjoy a wide range of interactive activities, including blind football, kids’ athletics, boccia, wheelchair basketball, para badminton, para shooting, and para-archery, providing a hands-on experience of inclusive sports. The program will also feature an inspirational session where Bhutan’s para-athletes share their journeys, encouraging young people to pursue sports and believe in their own potential. Cultural performances by students will add to the spirit of celebration and community.

A special highlight of the festival will be the felicitation of Mr. Cheyang Kuenchap, a student of Gesarling Central School, who brought pride to Bhutan by winning a Bronze Medal at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 in Dubai. Her Royal Highness Princess Eeuphelma Choden Wangchuck, President of the Bhutan Paralympic Committee, will honor his achievement, inspiring young Bhutanese and highlighting the growing potential of para sports in the country.

The 7th Paralympic Festival aims to raise awareness of para sports, inspire young people through real stories of determination, and promote a culture of respect, dignity, and equal opportunity. By combining sport, recognition, and community participation, the festival continues to build a more inclusive society, one where everyone is seen, valued, and celebrated for their abilities.
