BOC Team Holds Consultation Meeting with Hon’ble Members of the National Council
The Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) team was invited to make a presentation to the Hon’ble Members of the National Council of Bhutan’s Social and Cultural Affairs Committee; to share updates and future aspirations for the ongoing Sports in School program, which is currently being piloted in four schools across the country.
The meeting was graciously chaired by Hon’ble Tshering, Chairperson of the Social and Cultural Affairs Committee, and was attended by officials from the BOC.
During the meeting, the BOC team highlighted the stories, efforts, and early impact of the sports in school program in encouraging active lifestyles among young students. The discussion also touched upon the broader vision of creating a positive, inclusive, and drug-free sporting environment — one that engages youth in meaningful ways while promoting values such as discipline, teamwork, and well-being.
The Hon’ble Members of the National Council expressed genuine concern about the growing challenges facing youth and raised important questions to better understand how such issues can be addressed through sports. They also shared their insights on the importance of nurturing a strong sporting culture that not only develops skills but also shapes character and values.
In response, the BOC team shared the efforts they have undertaken to promote clean sport and create supportive sporting environments across various levels. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue working with all stakeholders to ensure that sport remains a positive force in the lives of young people.
The BOC is sincerely grateful for the warm reception and thoughtful engagement by the Hon’ble Members of the National Council and looks forward to building on this fruitful collaboration
