Coach Dorji Phurba expressed his confidence in the athletes, stating that they are set to give their best. He emphasized the importance of international exposure, saying,

“The most crucial aspect for our athletes is to gain game exposure and build confidence. While we train and simulate competitions at our federation training center, it is not enough. This tournament will give them the much-needed experience.”

Tandin Wangchuk is currently under the Bhutan Elite Athlete Support Training (BEAST) Program, which is managed by the Bhutan Olympic Committee. His participation in this event will serve as a stepping stone in his development as an athlete. Meanwhile, Kinley Penjor was selected through internal competitions within the federation under the Pistol Category.

Both athletes expressed their excitement and gratitude for this opportunity, stating that they are determined to give their best and learn from the competition to enhance their skills.

Tournament Schedule:

  • February 9 – Team departs for Bangkok

  • February 10 – Unofficial training and equipment control

  • February 11 – Official training and pre-event training

  • February 12 – Match day

After the tournament, the Bhutanese team will stay in Bangkok for an additional five days to undergo professional training for further skill enhancement.

Notably, this year, Bhutan will not participate in the Mixed Team event, as there are currently no female athletes in the Pistol Category. Previously, Bhutan had female representation in this category.
