PRESS RELEASE

5th January 2026 – The Bhutan Archery Federation (BAF) will host the third edition of the Bhutan Grand Prix (Bhutan Grand Prix III) from 27 February to 1 March 2026 at the BAF Range, Langjophakha, Thimphu. The Bhutan Grand Prix is BAF’s flagship high-performance archery competition, designed to promote international-standard archery, strengthen regional cooperation, and prepare Bhutanese archers for elite regional and international competitions.

Background

Launched in 2022, the Bhutan Grand Prix marked Bhutan’s first international-style compound archery competition. The second edition in 2024 significantly raised competitive standards with participation from elite archers from India and Bangladesh, providing Bhutanese athletes with invaluable exposure to international competition formats, techniques, and officiating standards.

What’s New in Bhutan Grand Prix III

Expanded Categories: Introduction of Recurve Men, alongside Compound Men and Compound Women, to support Olympic-style archery development in Bhutan.
Special Category for Upcoming Bhutanese Compound Archers: A dedicated pathway for Bhutanese archers with no prior international or regional exposure, ensuring fair competition and long-term athlete development.
International Exposure: Planned participation of elite Indian archers and internationally certified technical officials to strengthen technical and competitive exchange.

Objectives

Talent Identification: Identify promising compound and recurve archers for future international representation
Promotion of Olympic-Style Archery: Popularise international shooting techniques, standards, and competition formats
Knowledge & Skills Exchange: Enhance learning through competition with elite international athletes

Entry Fee: Nu. 1,000
Total Prize Pool: Nu. 600,000

Prize money will be awarded across Individual, Team, Mixed Team, and Special Category events, ensuring broad participation and strong competitive incentives.
