HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck Chairs South Asian Olympic Council Meeting in Bahrain

His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia, chaired the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) Meeting on 23 October 2025 at the ART Hotel in Bahrain, held alongside the 3rd Asian Youth Games. The meeting, attended by senior representatives from South Asian National Olympic Committees, focused on revitalizing the South Asian Games. HRH proposed an innovative “Cluster Games” model that allows multiple nations to co-host select disciplines, ensuring the continuity of the Games while promoting unity and reducing financial challenges for single hosts. The Council unanimously endorsed the proposal and agreed to advance constitutional reforms and a regional sports calendar, commending HRH’s visionary leadership in strengthening South Asian sporting cooperation and solidarity.

Team Bhutan has safely landed in Bahrain to compete in the 3rd Asian Youth Games! Departing Thimphu at 3:00 AM and flying out of Paro at 7:00 AM on October 21, 2025. After a long day of travel, the delegation finally arrived in Bahrain at 11:00 PM local time, tired but triumphant, and is now settling in to prepare for the exciting competition ahead.
