The National Khuru Tournament 2025, organized by the Bhutan Indigenous Games and Sports Association (BIGSA), kicked off today at Changbangdru with 21 gewog-based teams from across the country competing in a two-week knockout-format event. Transitioning from an open tournament to a gewog-level competition, this year’s edition focuses on cultural preservation, grassroots engagement, and strengthening community ties, with strong participation especially from the eastern and northern regions.

The cohort comprises one Gold, ten Silver, and nine Bronze athletes, with runner Kinley Tshering receiving a special upgrade to Gold Tier in recognition of his outstanding international performance. The signing event reflects the Bhutan Olympic Committee’s commitment to developing athlete support systems, establishing comprehensive high-performance routes, and advancing Bhutan’s long-term success on the world sporting scene.
