Olympic Solidarity Technical Course for Bhutan Taekwondo Federation Coaches

Thimphu, Bhutan: The Bhutan Taekwondo Federation in collaboration with the Bhutan Olympic Committee is currently organizing a Technical Course for over 30 Taekwondo coaches in the capital city of Thimphu.

The program which is made successful with financial support from the Olympic Solidarity will provide both practical and theory based learning opportunities whereby they will be able to refurbish their knowledge on the new rules and regulations of the World Taekwondo Federation and also the wholesome educational values associated with Taekwondo and sports in general.

The Taekwondo Federation hopes that the program which is led by a World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) recognized Grand Master Kim Seok San from Korea will help the Bhutanese coaches improve their quality and performance in order to keep up with other NOC’s under the International Olympic Committees umbrella.

“In a small NOC like ours, where our human resource capacity is inadequate both quantitatively and qualitatively, we truly appreciate the opportunity and assistance granted to us by the Olympic Solidarity as such courses help us increase the level and quality of our coaches” Sonam Karma Tshering, Secretary General, Bhutan Olympic Committee.

“Although the practical session is a bit difficult for most of us at this age, it is a very good opportunity for us as we are able to learn firsthand from an WTF certified Master/Coach. I hope with what I learn here I will be able to implement it back in my Dzongkhag (state) and teach my students and make them better” Kelzang, 49, Coach, Dzongkhag Taekwondo Association, Samtse-Bhutan.

The participants of the program mostly consist of coaches from the Dzongkhag Taekwondo Association under the Bhutan Taekwondo Federation. The program started on the 25th of January and will end on the 7th of February.
