Bhutan Taekwondo Federation
It has been 27 years since the inception of Taekwondo in Bhutan since 1st September 1985. Together, the Federation has made a formidable team and have successfully broadcasted the seeds of Taekwondo in 14 Dzongkhags (Districts) overcoming many obstacles and hindrances. Taekwondo is multifunctional and helps our young people uphold correct moral values needed in their practical life. Besides, Taekwondo has directly helped the government to cut down the medical cost as 23000 Taekwondo members are physically and mentally fit.
Taekwondo is the most appropriate sport that can be well incorporate in pursuit to Gross National Happiness if systematically used.
Taekwondo teaches in-depth Buddhist values that will change the mindset of our youths and make them productive citizens of Bhutan.
The Bhutan Taekwondo Federation is governed by the constitution and Bylaws of the BTF, 2006. The BTF aims at promoting Taekwondo in the country through:
- Imparting morale values through teachings of Taekwondo.
- Assisting Dzongkhag Taekwondo Associations, school Taekwondo programs and Military Sports Associations with equipments and services of coaches
- Promoting Coaches and Referee Certificate Courses.
- Integrating Taekwondo Programs to Gross National Happiness.
The federation is affiliated to World Taekwondo Federation and Asian Taekwondo Union.
